This program will focus on saltpeter mining and the chemistry behind fireworks (what makes them red and blue, etc.) Then walk down to the gravel bar and watch and fireworks show!
I'm from St. Louis but have been living in Phoenix, AZ for the last 14 years. I miss all the stuff you listed SO MUCH! Great fireworks, great food, great fun!
Here is another great spot in Eureka! Hot dogs and such are usually 50 cents!
JULY FOURTH CELEBRATION
The City of Eureka is proud to be sponsoring a July Fourth Celebration in Lions Park dedicated to military veterans throughout our community. The event, starting at 7:00 p.m., will include free activities for children, a concert by Hollywood 5 at 7:30 p.m., and will conclude at 9:30 p.m. with one of the biggest fireworks displays Eureka has ever seen. In addition, hot dogs, soda and ice cream will be available for a nominal cost. Plan on joining us for this fun and convenient way to celebrate America's birthday in your hometown. On-site parking will not be available. For additional information, contact the Parks and Recreation Department at 938-6775.
Mascoutah (in IL 25 minutes East on 64) will be having a HUGE 4th of July picnic in the park complete with a GREAT fire work display at 9:30pm!
Lots of food and fun!
