The St. Louis Zoo is hosting fun a fun event for International Polar Bear Day Saturday, February 24, 2018 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at McDonnell Polar Bear Point.
Activities Include:
-Play interactive games to learn how climate change impacts polar bears.
-Learn about polar bears and their role in Alaska Native communities.
-Zoo ALIVE teen volunteers will demonstrate the need for reducing plastic bag use to protect ocean animals and the environment.
-What does a polar bear’s fur feel like? Just how big are its paws and teeth? Get a closer look at bear biofacts and their amazing adaptations.
-Get your picture taken in our selfie station.
-New! Bears and Bees Booth. Learn how planting your own native plants helps mitigate climate change locally and globally, providing food and shelter to animals struggling from climate change effects. Create your own seed paper with polar bear cut outs made from recycled scratch paper and a pollinator seed mix.
Keeper Chats, Polar Bear Enrichment
11 a.m. & 1:30 p.m.
Meet Kali’s keepers and watch as he interacts with interesting enrichment activities. Zoo staff will answer questions about the state of polar bears in the wild and offer ways we all can help.
