If you have plans to visit Fair Saint Louis this weekend be sure to stop by the Make Safe Happen Safety Experience on the northwest side of the grounds at Forest Park. According to the CDC, preventable accidents are the number one cause of childhood deaths in the U.S., and since a lot of our kids are spending much more time at home during these summer months it’s a great time for parents and kids to learn more about how to stay safe!
At the Safety Experience you’ll be given a tablet and guided by an interactive program with a helpful eagle named Nate, as you go from room to room in a simulated home and learn what to do if you or your children see a dangerous situation, such as an unsteady television, unsecured household chemicals, or a child playing around water without adult supervision.
Make Safe Happen, a program from Nationwide, is setting out to help reduce preventable injuries by offering safety tips and tools through its website, MakeSafeHappen.com, mobile app, and national Safety Experience Tour, all of which can help parents and caregivers make their homes safer.
