Halloween Decorations, Animals & Attractions

Fun, spellbinding decorations for great photo opportunities include Skeleton Soiree, Monster Mash, Flutter Forest, Pirate Pointe, Halloween Town, the Witchy Walk, Magic Dragon and Serpents of Historic Hill, and much more.

Slither into the Charles H. Hoessle Herpetarium to catch sight of turtles, tortoises, frogs, toads, lizards, snakes and more. Spiders, centipedes, beetles and other invertebrates await you at the Bayer Insectarium. These are the only two animal exhibits open during the event.

New this year, go back in time and walk among the giants at Emerson Dinoroarus. Take a spin on the Mary Ann Lee Conservation Carousel. Ride the nighttime Emerson Zooline Railroad (separate fee.) The animal exhibits and attractions, except Zooline Railroad, are free with event admission.

Entertainment

Get pumped for some spooktacular stage show entertainment on weekends by Juggling Jeff, Oh My Gosh Josh and Enchanted Events character singalongs. Entertainment varies nightly. The approximately 30-minute acts, which do not include animals, feature music, juggling, magic, comedy and more on stage at the Lichtenstein Sea Lion Arena. The free shows are offered at 5:30 p.m. on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. After the show, the entertainers roam the Zoo until 8 p.m. On weeknights, enjoy roaming entertainers, like magicians, stilt walkers, jugglers and more.

Souvenirs & Food

Taste what’s brewing for dinner or a snack at Zoo cafes. Visit Candy Crossing and Starbucks for fall treats and drinks. Be sure to shop the boo-tique for souvenirs and receive 10 percent (20 percent for members) off any purchase at Zoo gift shops.

This year’s Boo at the Zoo souvenir T-shirt features North American river otters as basketball players. The shirts are available for purchase online and at select Zoo gift shops, while supplies last.

Costume Policy & Safety Measures

Family-friendly Halloween costumes are encouraged. Costume masks are not permitted for any age. For everyone’s safety, the Zoo has implemented enhanced protocols and procedures. See stlzoo.org/boo for the costume policy and up-to-date details prior to your visit.
